“Open For Small Business”
Elavon Presents: Musiq Soulchild
Elavon is partnering with Musiq Soulchild to celebrate the diversity and determination of Atlanta’s small businesses. Musiq Soulchild has a history in Atlanta, both with his career and his relationship with the community, and believes in supporting local businesses. Outside of entertainment, Musiq Soulchild works with community organizations in Atlanta to provide music education opportunities to Atlanta’s youth. He also works with the community to bring awareness to the mental health crisis amongst Black men.
Musiq Soulchild embodies the spirit of this campaign and exemplifies Elavon’s commitment to strengthening the communities they work in. Over the course of the campaign, Elavon and Musiq Soulchild will share the stories of four Atlanta-based small businesses through video interviews featuring the owners.
The “open for small business” program presented by Elavon aims to celebrate and elevate the voices and stories of small business owners, starting in Atlanta. In its inaugural season, the program will feature four small business owners while highlighting some of the community partners who helped identify the featured businesses, including the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs (RICE), The Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, OUT Georgia, and Spouse-ly.com.
Elavon is encouraging members of the Atlanta community to nominate their favorite small business for a chance to win an “open for small business” package. Four selected small businesses will win this package, which includes a $500 gift card, a new laptop, and a wellness package from the Manifest Company.
Anyone who nominates a small business will also be entered for a chance to win a $200 gift card themselves.
Musiq Soulchild blends his music style between R&B, funk, blues, jazz, gospel, and hip-hop. Inspired by music icons like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Donny Hathaway, Musiq decided he wanted to become a musician when he was a teenager. He dropped out of high school and built his musical repertoire by beatboxing for MCs, scatting at jazz clubs, and performing a cappella on the street. Since then, he has released three albums that hit number one on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart, has 13 Grammy nominations, and has won two awards for Best Male R&B Artist at the 2001 BET Awards and the 2002 ASCAP Awards.
